On the 8th of November 2017, the first Auchanbio store opened in Lille, Northern France. The new organic retail store of the large, originally conventional retail company Auchan Retail France offers 4,200 organic products on a sales area of 450 sqm. As the company states, 85% of the products provided are of French origin and many products are purveyed by regional brands and suppliers. Further, the shop’s building is designed to reduce the environmental footprint of the store’s activities by using 100% LED-lighting and motion detectors in social rooms, by keeping the doors of the cold rooms closed when not used, by recycling the shop’s waste and by cooking handmade soups from self-grown vegetables.

According to the retail company, the new Auchanbio brand has been launched to meet expectations of customers who are focused on organic products, but also to attract buyers who like to find a relevant selection of affordable quality products.
