IFOAM EU: General Assembly and final SOLMACC Conference in May

On 15th May 2018 IFOAM EU will host its 9th General Assembly (GA) in Brussels, Belgium. Within the assembly, the organization will address important matters such as future strategies. Moreover, the attending members will vote motions and elect the next Board for the period 2018-2020. The meeting is only open to members of IFOAM EU and is a key part of the organization’s democratic process. Following the general meeting, IFOAM EU will celebrate its 15th anniversary together with its members.

Final SOLMACC Conference
IFOAM EU also invites interested parties to the final SOLMACC Conference “Farmers tackling climate change: Systemic solutions for greater mitigation and adaptation of EU’s agriculture sector” taking place on 16th May 2018 at the Permanent Representation of the State of Hessen to the EU, Rue Montoyer 21, Brussels. SOLMACC is a LIFE project that has been promoting climate-friendly farming practices for the last four years and scientifically monitoring the climate impact of implementing the four farming practices at twelve European organic demonstration farms.
During the half-day conference, the willingness of organic farmers to be part of the solution in fighting climate change will be highlighted, the potential of mitigating and adapting to climate change of four key farming practices will be presented, and policy recommendations will be discussed. To this end, the final results of the SOLMACC project will be showcased.
