With a budget of 1,500 mn Rupees (more than 23,5 mn US$) the National Government will support organic farming for the next three years in Uttarakhand.
The amount was sanctioned by Union Agriculture Minister, Radha Mohan Singh when Uttarakhand´s Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat visited him in New Delhi recently.
According to media this financial support met Prime Minister Narendra Modi´s vision to make Uttarakhand another organic state of India, as the Himalayan state of Sikkim is declared since 2016.
The North Western Himalayan state Uttarakhand promotes organic agriculture and marketing quite a while. The state is regularly present at the yearly BioFach India – India Organic trade fair that was held parallel to the IFOAM Organic World Congress last November in Delhi.
