IFOAM EU: General Assembly and final SOLMACC Conference in May

Next month, IFOAM EU will host its 9th General Assembly as well as an anniversary reception for its members on 15th May. Following these two members-only events, IFOAM EU also invites interested parties to attend the final conference of the SOLMACC project on 16th May. Once again, Berlin-based Bio Company experienced growth in 2017 and it sees itself well positioned for the future. The company's first stores were launched in Berlin almost 20 years ago. For Georg Kaiser, co-founder and CEO at Bio Company, merely selling organic products was not enough. So, he insisted on offering products from the metropolitan region of Berlin-Brandenburg and built up a network of regional suppliers. For this CO₂ saving measure as an important part of the sustainability strategy, the company has been rewarded.


Germany: more organic products in discounters

According to GfK market research, 95 per cent of all households bought at least one organic product in 2017. Discounter Aldi expanded its organic range over the years and has set itself ambitious sales targets in the organic segment for the coming years.


France: Record organic area and turnover

With an increase of 15% over the previous year, France's organic land area grew to 1.77 million hectares. Sales rose to 8 billion euros. This is recently estimated by the organisation Agence Bio.
