Naturland with record increase of 25% in farmers and area

The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and IFOAM – Organics International launched  the statistical yearbook at Biofach  2018 in Nuremberg. This comprehensive collection of the latest available data (2016) on organic agriculture worldwide contains data on area, operators, and retail sales: 57.8 million hectares of organic agricultural land – organic market grows to almost 90 billion US Dollars.

It was a global organic event in India last month. Almost 2,500 delegates from 121 countries plus more than 7,000 day visitors attended the 19th IFOAM Organic World Congress (OWC). More than 1,000 farmers joined the organic mega event in Delhi/ Greater Noida and discussed topics concerning agriculture innovations, techniques, trends, challenges, success stories and other key issues of the sector. Sikkim: An organic vision becomes reality

Sikkim, a small northeastern Himalayan state between Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan that boarders China in the North, made an important decision in 2010. Chief Minister Sri Pawan Chamling had a visionary goal: he wanted to place the state’s entire agriculture land under organic management. To achieve his goal, Chamling launched the Sikkim Organic Mission and within 15 years, the entire agriculture process was converted to organic, and Sikkim was declared “Organic State“ in 2016. This is a worldwide lighthouse example for further conversion of lands towards a 100% organic status. Watch the Video.
