Vivaness: German natural cosmetics market by far the biggest in Europe

More and more consumers are purchasing natural cosmetics. Over the last two years their number has increased by 1.2 million. The winners benefiting from this trend continue to be the drugstores; the losers include the specialist trade. The turnover of natural cosmetics grew by around 1.2 billion euros. Naturland with record increase of 25% in farmers and area

The European Union is the world's second largest single market for organic products after the United States.In 2016, organic retail sales in Europe rose by 11.4 percent to 33.5 billion euros, while organic sales in the EU member states significantly exceeded the 30 billion euro mark and reached 30.7 billion euros. The figures were traditionally compiled by the Research Institute for Organic Agriculture (FiBL), the Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) and partners and presented at the Biofach.

The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and IFOAM – Organics International launched  the statistical yearbook at Biofach  2018 in Nuremberg. BioFach India together with India Organic (BIIO) took place parallel to the IFOAM Organic World Congress (OWC) from 9 to 11 November 2017, at the India Expo Mart (IEML) in Greater Noida, near New Delhi. The organic fair duo was an excellent meeting place for the international organic sector. The 184 organic exhibitors at the 9th organic trade fair welcomed 9,645 visitors at the three days´event. Germany: organically managed land expanded by nearly 15% in 2016

In 2016, organically managed land in Germany grew by around 162,000 hectares to 1.25 million hectares, which equates to a rise of almost 15% compared with 2015. This growth is divided equally between pasture and arable land. The federal states of Saxony and Bavaria saw the greatest expansion. The biggest areas of organically managed land as a proportion of the total agricultural land were to be found in the federal states of Saarland, Hesse and Brandenburg. Lower Saxony had the smallest share of organic land (3.4%).


Sweden: organic sales reached new record in the first six months
