More than half of the farmers’ markets and educational farms in Italy practise organic farming. This data was presented during Agri & Tour, the seventh edition of the National Exhibition of Agriturismo in Arezzo, Italy. Most popular are those cities of art and tradition in Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, and Veneto.
The Emilia-Romagna Region recorded the biggest increase of accreditation of educational farms (over 200), followed by Trentino (30 companies). Even in the Centre and in the South of the country, the number of farms with educational activities was growing. Farm surveys confirmed that the guests were aged between 35 and 40 years, 50% of the employed persons were working in an office, they travelled with a family of three to four people, had a medium income or above and love nature and food, which was preferably organic.
