Green changes in Israel

The Likud leaders Benjamin Netanyahu, Gideon Sa'ar and Gilad Arden have organized the "Global Warming - Implications for Israel" conference. During the conference, MKs listened to a number of lectures, from "Green Solutions for Israeli Industry" and "Dependence on Oil - The Strategic Threat," to "Global Warming as a Financial and Economic Engine."
One of the lecturers was Dr. Ornit Raz, head of the organic farmers' association and a graduate of the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Raz insisted on organic refreshments since she believed this was the quickest and most efficient way to help MKs connect to the nature of the subject.
There is a tendency in public and media debate of green issues to make private citizens responsible for the planet's fate and therefore to advise them to green practises. But the real change, according to Haaretz, which would permit Israel to join the family of green nations, must come from the top.
Haaretz has also recently quoted research predicting the Green party's entrance into the Knesset for the first time in the coming elections.
