Venture Foods launched new chocolate bars

The Organic White Bar and Swiss Dark Chocolate with Mint Crisps bar are the latest products of Venture Foods' Organica range, developed to reach ethical consumers. Soil Association and Fairtrade Foundation have approved the bars already.
Mintel forecasts that UK shoppers are to spend over € 2.6 billion on ethical foods this year alone. This trend has also come into the confectionery industry with organic chocolatiers, as market leader Green & Blacks experiences a sales growth from € 14 million to € 74 million in the last four years. Within the ethical foods market, Fairtrade remains the leader in terms of sales growth. It is set to be worth € 342 million by the end of this year, experiencing a growth of 265 per cent between 2002 and 2006 alone.
Figures by Mintel’s Global New Product Database have also shown that 170 new organic chocolate products have been launched globally in the past year. According to market researchers Leatherhead International, the UK organic chocolate market is the largest in the EU with sales of €27.3 million in 2005.
