Chile and the EU sign agreement on organic products

The National Director of the Office of the Agricultural Studies als Policies (PASO), Claudia Carbonell and the Head of the Directorate General for Agriculture of the European Union, Maria Angeles Benitez, have signed an agreement of bilateral recognition in the trade of organic products. This will allow farmers from both countries to sell their produce to a broader market with less administration. As a result, there will be more organic products available in Europe and Chile. The EU accounts for 40 percent of the whole organic food market and Chile has exported organic products worth over $43 million to Europe in 2015. The agreement will therefore bring together two large markets and makes way for further growth.
