Markets have to adjust to Europe’s food safety legislations

As Europe has the strictest laws on food safety in the world, producers from other countries often have to adjust their production if they want to meet the European requirements for food export. Primoris, a laboratory for residue analysis of pesticides, mycotoxins and other contaminants, keeps track of changes in European legislation to support producers from all over the world, who wish to export to Europe.

"We provide support worldwide thanks to independent laboratories in Bulgaria and Colombia and representatives in countries like France and the Netherlands. Each year, we receive more than 60,000 samples from 50 different countries; 55% are fresh fruits and vegetables. We receive samples from over 50 countries. We are receiving more and more samples from Western and Eastern Europe, the United States and Latin America, but we are still looking for new markets to expand our business," explains Jef De Lombaerde of the Primoris Lab in Colombia to Fresh Plaza.
