UK: Soil Association Organic Food Awards 2009

The Soil Association has announced that they are running their popular Soil Association Organic Food Awards this year in association with their media partner, The Times and their sponsor, Highland Spring. Now in their 21st year, the awards are a celebration of excellence in organic food and farming. Samples will be required for judging in early July. The criteria cover taste, appearance, recipe (with a commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients), and provenance where the foods are produced according to regional influence and craftsmanship.

The Soil Association are calling for entries in twelve main organic food and drink categories: Baked goods, beer/cider, cakes/puddings/biscuits/confectionery, cereals, children and baby food, dairy, fruit and vegetables, juice/non alcoholic drinks, meat/fish, prepared foods, store cupboard staples and wines. If one wishes to apply a form needs to be completed and returned , along with the appropriate payment, before 29 May, 2009.
