Italy: launched

The Internet portal was launched by Amabi (Mediterranean Association for Organic Agriculture), in collaboration with Aiab (Italian Association for Organic Agriculture), Consorzio Gusti del Lazio (Syndicate Taste of Lazio), and the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, under the National Action Plan for Organic Farming.

It offers opportunities to learn about the sector, to meet and even make connections for business. There is ample space for information for consumers and professionals in order to raise the level of awareness on organic production. According to Andrea Ferrante, president of Aiab, this gives companies and consumers a tool to shorten the supply chain. Gino Girolomoni, President of Amabi, says that the obvious advantage from the technical point for operators was that they are provided with all the most important and innovative technologies for real-time information of interest to them. The wide range of organic products is now shown nationally, aiming at encouraging consumption through direct relations and giving consumers the opportunity to buy products at a lower price.
