by Redaktion (comments: 0)

With the beauty industry looking at fairtrade and new eco-labels to meet rising ethical consumer demand, Organic Monitor has launched a new masterclass that critically reviews ethical cosmetic eco-labels and highlights business opportunities. Titled “Ethical Cosmetic Eco-Labels & Global Opportunities”, this new masterclass takes place in Nuremberg, from February 18 to 19, alongside the Vivaness trade show. The Masterclass comprises two interactive workshops designed for technical and business professional in the beauty industry. The masterclass begins with a workshop that gives details of the most popular eco-labels for ethical cosmetics. The various fairtrade labelling schemes are described, followed by other ethical initiatives that include Nordic Swan, IBD Eco-Social, Eco Flower, etc. A critical review is undertaken of these eco-labelling schemes in which the ingredient, formulation and technical issues are examined. A comparison is then made of these initiatives with leading natural and organic cosmetic standards. Practical advice is given to overcome the technical issues involved in adopting these standards.

The second workshop analyses the global market for ethical cosmetics, highlighting the business opportunities to existing participants and new entrants. An overview is given of the global ethical cosmetics market, showcasing the leading regional / country markets. The major market developments and trends are highlighted, with case studies given of companies who are successfully riding the ethical wave. The workshop ends by giving future growth projections and by emphasising the business openings. The first workshop will be led by Judi Beerling, head of Technical Research at Organic Monitor. Amarjit Sahota, founder and managing director of Organic Monitor, will lead the second workshop. The Masterclass will also have presentations from some of the leading ethical cosmetic labelling schemes. Since 2006, Organic Monitor has been organising natural cosmetic masterclasses / workshops at various international locations. This new masterclass has limited capacity of 50 so delegates are advised to book early. More information is available here
